SALON CAPTURES THE ENERGY OF A GROWING GLOBAL MOVEMENT — ONE WHERE NEW COLLECTORS ARE DISCOVERING THE THRILL OF ENGAGING WITH CONTEMPORARY ART

What We’re Building

Salon is a platform where contemporary artists explore new avenues, curators shape and contextualise our collection, and a new generation of collectors engage with art in a way that’s meaningful, accessible, and exciting. Salon is more than just another art marketplace — it’s an effervescent symbiotic ecosystem.

Each month, we release a carefully curated one-week exhibition of 50 works into a vibrant community that thrives on contemporary art.

These artworks are for demonstration purposes only

Why Join as a Collector?

Salon is designed to make collecting art feel personal, approachable, and deeply rewarding. Every artwork is the same size, the same price, and curator-approved, giving you the confidence to trust your own eye. For those just beginning, it’s an easy and deeply rewarding way into the world of collecting. For more experienced collectors, it’s a space to refine the vision behind your collection — and help shape the community sharing a new wave of art collecting.

Why Join as a Curator?

Salon offers curators the opportunity to shape a contextualised and ongoing collection of contemporary art, working directly with artists to guide and select new work. Each exhibition is publicly credited to its curator, offering visibility, recognition, and a platform to build a curatorial voice. We work with curators from around the world and compensate them fairly for their time and expertise.

Why Join as an Artist?

Salon is built for professional artists who want to grow their careers while exploring new directions in their work — with exposure to new collectors around the world. On the first Thursday of every month at 9am, artists submit directly to one of our independent curators, who provide thoughtful feedback and select works for inclusion in the collection. Selected works are purchased upfront, providing reliable income and supporting continued creative growth.

Still Have Questions?

Salon is open to anyone ready to embark on the journey of becoming a collector of contemporary art. We’re honoured to invite you to join this effervescent global movement reshaping the meaning of art in our daily lives. Sign up on the link below and we’ll notify you when we launch later this year.

All artworks are sold online. Each month, Salon releases a new drop of 100 carefully selected works, available exclusively to members for a one-week window. Every piece is 25cm², presented in a signature Salon frame, and sold at the same price — making collecting intuitive, focused, and accessible.

Salon is for collectors who value depth, discovery, and the joy of collecting as an ongoing journey. We support those who want to build meaningful collections over time — and who are excited to take part in a new wave of contemporary art engagement. Our platform fosters an effervescent community where collectors grow their tastes, sharpen their vision, and contribute to a movement that is reshaping how art is collected and appreciated.

Yes — we actively support collectors who wish to engage further. That might mean acquiring larger works directly from the artist, or through their gallery. We see Salon as a place to discover artists, and we’re proud to be part of helping collectors become thoughtful patrons over time.

Yes. You’re welcome to exchange a work at any point. It’s part of how we support your collecting confidence — and it reflects our trust in the quality of every piece we release.

Salon is building a secondary market where collectors can resell works purchased through the platform. This will give you a structured way to refine your collection with full transparency and community trust, and benefit from work that has appreciated in value over time.

We work with thoughtful, curious, and dynamic curators who have at least two years of practical experience. You should be comfortable thinking on your feet, able to communicate clearly, and confident engaging with artists in meaningful conversation about their practice and direction.

There are two key ways curators contribute to Salon. Most curators will be invited to review artist submissions, select or reject works, and provide feedback during 15-minute video sessions - usually for around four artists per month.

Each month, a curator will also be selected by Salon to shape the upcoming exhibition drop. This involves selecting works from Salon’s collection and writing a short curatorial statement to contextualise the exhibition. All work is done online, and the process is streamlined to fit easily within your existing commitments.

Yes. Whether you’re conducting artist feedback or curating a monthly exhibition, your name and contribution will be credited on the platform. Curators selected for monthly drops will be prominently acknowledged, and all past exhibitions remain visible on the website as part of your growing portfolio.

Yes. Curators are compensated for their time and expertise. We value the role you play in shaping the platform and supporting artists through thoughtful selection and dialogue.

Yes — and we actively encourage it. Our platform depends on curators inviting artists they believe in. Curators can introduce artists they’ve worked with before, or those they’ve long wanted to engage. All proposed artists are vetted by Salon to ensure we maintain high professional standards.

You’ll have significant creative freedom when selecting works or shaping an exhibition. We also offer occasional check-ins to discuss curatorial decisions and ensure quality and consistency across the platform. For many curators, this is a first opportunity to take on this kind of responsibility — and Salon is here to support you every step of the way.

Yes. All curatorial work takes place online, and we welcome participation from anywhere. Cross-cultural exchange is a key part of what makes Salon vibrant — and helps build a diverse, effervescent community.

Salon is open to professional, career-focused artists from anywhere in the world. If you’re serious about your practice and curious to explore new directions, we’d love to hear from you.

No. You’re free to participate when it suits you. Some artists submit regularly, others only occasionally — it’s entirely up to your availability and creative flow.

We accept original works in a variety of media, as long as they can be produced on either canvas or gesso board in our standard format. All works must measure 25cm², and Salon takes care of the framing.

You’ll be invited to a video feedback session with one of our curators, where you’ll receive input on your submission. Afterwards, you’ll get an email summary of your feedback along with the outcome of the selection. This feedback call happens at the same time each month and is part of what makes the Salon process uniquely artist-centered.

Yes. Every artist receives feedback, whether or not their work is selected. The aim is to support your development and give you useful insights — not just a yes or no.

If a curator selects one or more of your works, you’ll be paid in full, and we’ll start processing your payment within two working days. You’ll retain your payment regardless of when the work sells.

Artists are responsible for shipping selected works to us. Once we receive the work, we’ll professionally photograph and frame it in our signature frame before it’s made available to collectors.

Submissions are made through Salon’s online portal. You’ll be asked to upload well-lit, high-quality photos or scans of your work so that curators can properly assess the submission.

Who’s Behind Salon?

Salon was founded by the brother-sister team of Jeanetta and John Blignaut. They’ve been building creative projects together since they were kids — and now draw on decades of experience in art, business, and platform design. They share the belief that artists are the pioneers of our culture who create work that give meaning to our everyday lives. With that vision, they’ve built Salon to support a new generation of collectors, and to help shape a more generous, grounded, and engaging future for contemporary art.
