Salon exists to foster a more vibrant culture of collecting: one where collectors move from first serious acquisition to deeper engagement, and eventually toward meaningful patronage.

In this future, collecting becomes more than a series of individual acquisitions. It becomes a form of self-discovery. Collectors learn what they respond to, what they value, and how each work begins to shape the story of their collection — an evolving reflection of who they are in the world.

As that collector culture grows, the wider ecosystem grows with it. Artists gain more meaningful visibility and support. Curators and critics help shape how contemporary art is understood. Collectors become more confident custodians of the works they live with.

That is the world Salon exists to help build: thoughtful, rigorous, accessible, and alive to the value of art in society.

Who's behind Salon?

Salon was founded by Jeanetta and John Blignaut, a brother-sister team whose shared passion for contemporary art and experience in cultural projects, design and technology led them to reimagine the traditional gallery model.

Based in Lyon, France, they work with a global network of curators and critics to ensure Salon remains at the forefront of the contemporary art conversation.
