Katja Felle is a visual artist working in the field of painting, art education and artistic collaboration with social groups and institutions. She graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts and Design at the University of Ljubljana and received her MA at the Universität der Künste Berlin (Institut für Kunst im Kontext). Her works and projects have been presented in solo and group exhibitions in public and private galleries and museums, among others: Alkatraz Gallery, Ljubljana (SI); BELLEPARAIS_raum für kunst, Munich (DE); CD Gallery, Cankarjev dom, Ljubljana (SI), Central Museum of Textiles, Łódź, Poland (PL); KGLU – Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art Koroška, Slovenj Gradec (SI); Kresija Gallery, Ljubljana (SI), Künstlerhaus Klagenfurt (AUT); Museum of Modern Art MG+MSUM, Ljubljana (SI); Neurotitan Gallery, Berlin (DE); nGbK – neue Gesellschaft für bildende Kunst, Berlin (DE); Nova Gorica City Gallery, Nova Gorica (SI); TURBA Gallery, Hannover (DE), etc. Her works are included in public and private collections in Slovenia, Austria, Germany, France, Italy and Poland.

Katja Felle’s artistic practice focuses on painting and media art. She investigates, stores, appropriates, and transforms visual references that she collects from the world of media to create new forms and images. She is interested in the content people consume and share, and in the shapeshifting of visual material depending on the context in which it is situated. At a time when the digital reality increasingly mimics and sometimes even eclipses our physical world, Felle’s works stand as an exploration of this dichotomy between the virtual and the real, bringing the proxy world back to concrete reality. Through various painting and image transfer styles, she concretizes fleeting images from the digital world into the tangible one. Not only does this result in a confrontation of the audience with the ontological state of the virtual realm, it also draws attention to the very physicality implicit behind the images on the screen.

A significant part of Felle’s work involves also textile art, particularly hand-stitching techniques, through which she explores their historical, social, and contemporary artistic roles. For her participatory project Stop-Sew-Reset (2015 – 2026), she received a bronze award at the 17th International Triennial of Tapestry in Łódź (PL) in 2022. In 2025 she started with the Stop-Sew-Reset II in collaboration with KGLU – Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art Koroška (SI). For the artist, hand-stitching techniques are a metaphor for living and creating, through which people interact with others and transmit knowledge.
